HELP! URGENT!!hymens - read the description!?

i have this beach party coming up and i dont want to miss it. my period is supposed to be comin then. i use pads and have never used a tampon. im scared to use a tampon for this because i HATE pain...kinda low tolerance. but im not missing the party so ive decided i will suck it up. ive been on my period for a little less than a year btw. ive never fingered myself or been fingered. i dont remember any significant pain down there. i dont know if ive broken my hymen yet. i do excercise a lot but i dont bike or horseback ride. how do i know if my hymen has been broken yet...is there anyway i can see? also, does it hurt the first time using a tampon...on a scale from 1-10. thanks
