Has starting horseback riding as an adult made you feel "behind"?

well i started riding when i was 13 and im about to turn 14 and i felt really behind because i was in lessons with 7 year olds and i guess im a natural because now im with people older than me (just a few years though) so maybe starting late can be a good thing because you really want it if you have spent so many years without horses. and plus you appreciate the lessons more than some little kids that grew up with it.
