After I get my cartilage pierced, how long do I need to wait until I can wear a helmet to go horseback riding?

I want to get my cartilage pierced this summer, and then about 2 weeks later I'm going to a horse camp for 3 weeks. Will wearing the helmet hurt my ear/the new piercing?
